It must have brought back a lot of memories Jackie of your teacher and that you actually recognised her after over 40 years. I would be as delighted as you if it had been a teacher I recognised, or even a friend.

Just have to shout about it to any one who listens. If anyone watched last nights Paralympics opening ceremony, the lady who held the torch to light the flame ( Margaret Maughan ) was my needlework school teacher between 1962 - 66, I was aged 11 - 15. She has not changed, I recognised her straight away. She was such a nice teacher, I do have fond memories of her, who taught me to use a singer sewing machine, taught me smocking, and to make up a gingham blouse. Who would have thought 47 - 48 years down the line she would have the honour ( being UKs first paralympic gold medalist ) to be lighting the flame for our London 2012.
She taught us in the huts at the end of the boys playing fields, at Leggatts Way Secondary School Watford. Watford being where she now lives. The school later was turned into a college. Sadly passing it a few weeks ago, has now been turned into many new homes.
